Carnival doughnut
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1⁄2 packet baking powder
- 80 g powdered sugar
- 100 g softened butter
- 500 g flour
- 5 eggs
- 1 Bonne Maman hazelnut and cocoa spread
- Oil for deep-frying
- icing sugar
Steps
- Mix the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Then add the softened butter and work the dough with your hands until it has a shortcrust texture.
- Make a small well in the center and add the beaten eggs. Stir well until a smooth batter forms. Cover the batter with a kitchen towel and let it rest for 1 hour so that it becomes nice and soft.
- After resting, roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface until it is about 1 cm thick, then cut out diamond shapes. Make a small incision in the center of each diamond to form the typical hole in bugnes.
- Heat the frying oil in a large pan and, once hot, dip the doughnuts in one at a time. When the doughnuts rise to the surface, carefully turn them over with a fork and allow them to brown evenly. Remove them and drain on kitchen paper.
- Once they have cooled, you can dust them with a little powdered sugar and enjoy them with Bonne Maman hazelnut and cocoa spread for even more enjoyment! 🎉
